March 14, 2011 — Darryl Jay Leiter, a physicist who taught in the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies program at the University of Virginia, died March 4 in Charlottesville. He was 74.
In his course, "Thinking About Cosmic Questions," Leiter guided students through the mysteries of the universe – its origins and ending, the nature of time, matter and consciousness. Previously he taught at Boston College, the University of Windsor, Central Michigan University and George Mason University. He also received numerous research grants, including two senior fellowships at NASA.
