July 15, 2008 — Ellen Gilliam Perry, 88, a former circulation librarian at Alderman Library, died June 19, 2008, of Alzheimer's disease at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge.

Born in 1925 in Lynchburg, Perry earned a master's degree in library science from Columbia University. She met her late husband, former U.Va. Dean of Admission Marvin Perry Jr., who died in 1994, at the library.
