In Memoriam: John “Jake” Cusano III

John “Jake” Cusano III, a first-year student in the University of Virginia’s College of Arts & Sciences, died Feb. 15 in Charlottesville.

A resident of Morristown, N.J., he was 18 and a member of the Virginia Men’s Rowing Club. He is survived by his parents, John M. Cusano Jr. and Christine Cusano; his brothers, Thomas and Joseph; his grandparents, Klaus and Ingrid Eifert and John and Rosemary Cusano; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Several of his family members, including his father, are U.Va. alumni.

As a member of the intercollegiate rowing team, his work ethic was especially commendable, according to coaches Frank Biller and Erich Shuler. Cusano was also an exceptionally talented guitarist.Visitation will be held Thursday, from 4 to 9 p.m., at Christ the King Church Parish Hall in New Vernon (Harding), N.J. The funeral mass will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church.
