In Memoriam: William Constable

Dr. William Charles Constable, a retired former director of radiation oncology in the University of Virginia Health System and in the U.Va. School of Medicine, died July 7 in Troy. He was 83.

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, he was a graduate of the University of Edinburgh Medical School. He was known as an extraordinary physician, teacher and mentor.

Constable also was a member of the Royal College of Radiology, the American College of Radiology, the Radium Society, the Southern Association of Oncologists and a lifetime member of the Colonnade Club.

He retired from the faculty in 2000.
