The Air Force ROTC is out for blood.
University of Virginia Air Force ROTC Detachment 890 will sponsor a blood drive with the Red Cross on March 23, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., in Newcomb Hall’s Commonwealth Room.
“The Air Force ROTC is in charge of helping plan and coordinate the event,” Air Force ROTC Cadet Maj. Sasha M. Porter, a third-year student at the University, said. “The blood collected from this drive will go to hospitals in the community, but can also go out of state as well, to anyone who needs it.”
To schedule a donation appointment, call 1-800-733-2767 or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter “AFROTC.”
“Donors primarily come from appointments, but walk-ins are welcome,” Porter said.
There will be a refreshment station with juice boxes and snacks for blood donors.
The Red Cross collects 13.6 million units of whole blood and red blood cells in the U.S. in a year.
