The American Baseball Coaches Association announced this week that University of Virginia head baseball coach Brian O’Connor will be among its 10-member Hall of Fame class when the induction ceremony takes place Jan. 5 in Grapevine, Texas.
The honor comes after O’Connor wrapped his 20th season at UVA by guiding the Cavaliers to the College World Series for the sixth time.
O’Connor, who won his 800th career game in March, has a record of 839-353-2 with the Wahoos, including a 4-2 victory over Vanderbilt University on June 24, 2015, that clinched the program’s first national championship.
O’Connor’s winning percentage of .704 is the highest of any active NCAA Division I college baseball coach.
