Ogunkoya, who grew up in Queens, New York, first discovered UVA through a program for first-generation college students. Nearly three years later, she’s loving her time here.

A $250,000 grant to the Student Life and Leadership Fund will support students who are facing financial difficulties due to changes in the spring semester brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jane Batten’s gift will enable the creation of professorships and fellowships in UVA’s education school, positively affecting the quality of education offered to young people.

Tuesday brought contributions from 22 countries and all 50 states, reflecting a commitment to the University by supporters around the world.
