April 3, 2008 — The Office of Emergency Preparedness, in conjunction with Information Technology and Communication, is conducting tests of a new emergency e-mail system.
One test e-mail was sent on Wednesday afternoon. Other such messages will be distributed over the next several days.
This e-mail system will be used to distribute emergency messages to everyone with a University of Virginia e-mail account. No additional registration is required.
U.Va. Alerts does offer both text messages and e-mail notification, and there is a separate registration procedure to receive U.Va. Alerts. To sign up for U.Va. Alerts, please go to http://www.virginia.edu/uvaalerts.
