Work to remove river rock used as ballast atop the University of Virginia Bookstore is expected to begin on Tuesday, part of a project to replace the roof. The process, which involves vacuuming rocks off the roof, will generate significant noise.

The vacuum truck will be parked on the road between the Central Grounds Parking Garage and Memorial Gymnasium.

The work will be conducted from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and may extend through Thursday.
