July 23, 2008 — Spaar's fifth book of poetry "is the perfect marriage of the realism of William Carlos Willams and the sleepless heaven-seeking … of Dickinson and Hopkins," according to the Virginia Quarterly Review.
Spaar directs the Area Program in Poetry Writing at the University of Virginia. She has also been an instructor for the U.Va. Culture of London Summer Program at Regents College, and she recently edited the anthology, "All That Mighty Heart: London Poems." Her other poetry books include "Blue Venus," "Glass Town" and the anthology "Acquainted With the Night: Insomnia Poems."
