Sign Up for Course Design Institute by April 28

April 9, 2010 — The Teaching Resource Center will hold a Course Design Institute May 24-27 for instructors who are creating a new course or revamping an existing one. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day in Zehmer Hall. Applications are due April 28, as space is limited.

The institute is open to all instructors – faculty, post-doctoral fellows and graduate students. Attendees will spend the four days designing or substantially redesigning a course, so that it promotes significant, long-term learning in a transformative environment. In small teams, participants will work on defining meaningful learning goals, exploring novel ways to assess these, developing engaging classroom activities that support the goals and mapping out the structure of the course.

The application, due by April 28, is available at trc.virginia.edu.
