February 27, 2009 — The University's siren and public address notification system will be upgraded March 2-11. The system will not operate during this time; however, you may hear testing in various areas. The system will be tested before it is returned to operation. You will be notified in advance of that test.  

During the scheduled outage, all other emergency notifications will remain operational. In an emergency, you can expect to receive notification from:

•    University e-mail
•    Cell phone text message, if signed up for UVa Alerts
•    Page, where available
•    Public announcements, where available.

As always, the University home page will provide up-to-date information during an emergency.
