TIP SHEET: U.Va. Experts Available to Discuss New U.S. Census Survey

December 4, 2008 — On Tuesday, the United States Census Bureau will release to the public its American Community Survey, which includes three-year data for areas with populations of 20,000 to 65,000.

The City of Charlottesville is one of Virginia's localities receiving American Community Survey results for the first time, noted Qian Cai, director of the Demographics and Workforce Section of the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service.

Media were expected to receive an embargoed press release on this survey beginning today.

Cai and Susan Perrone, also of the Demographics and Workforce Section, can assist media with general information about the survey's three-year estimates and data interpretation. The two have also prepared some data highlights for the City of Charlottesville.

Reporters can reach Cai at 434-982-5581 and Perrone at 434-982-5690.

The American Community Survey is online at www.census.gov/acs/www/.
