Top Prosecutor for U.N. Criminal Tribunals Speaks Thursday at University of Virginia

March 13, 2012 — The former chief prosecutor for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda will speak at the University of Virginia on Thursday, kicking off a two-day discussion on international criminal justice.

Richard J. Goldstone will deliver his talk, "The Current State of International Criminal Justice," at 3 p.m. in the Newcomb Hall Gallery, with a discussion to follow.

The talk is sponsored by the Center for Russian and East European Studies, part of U.Va.'s College of Arts & Sciences.

On Friday at 10 a.m., the center will sponsor a discussion about the criminal tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda in Newcomb Hall's Commonwealth Room. It is recommended that participants read chapter four of Goldstone's memoir, "For Humanity."

Both events are free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
