University of Virginia Plans Community Briefing June 13 On Arena And Major Construction

June 6, 2006 — University of Virginia officials will hold a community briefing on Tuesday, June 13, at 7 p.m. in the Newcomb Hall Ballroom. Titled  “Building the University of Tomorrow,” the briefing will feature presentations by Richard A. Kovatch, associate vice president for business operations, and David J. Neuman, architect for the University.

Kovatch will outline goals for the John Paul Jones Arena, describe the types of events to be held at the site and share plans for handling traffic and parking associated with arena events. Neuman will present an overview of construction projects occurring or planned around U.Va., including the South Lawn and the arts precinct parking garage. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentations.

Free parking for the briefing will be available in the Emmet Street garage.
