U.Va. Architecture School Announces Clark-Howe Colloquium Series Speakers

March 07, 2011

March 7, 2011 — The University of Virginia School of Architecture has announced the speakers for the inaugural Clark-Howe Colloquium Series lectures, to be held this spring.

The colloquium series was established by the school through a gift from Clark Construction Group LLC in memory of Joe Howe (1924-2009), honoring the professor's more than 30 years of teaching construction practice management in the schools of Architecture and Engineering and Applied Science.

The colloquium series will occur annually for five years, and will be a component of an upper-level undergraduate course that focuses on building techniques and the roles engineering, construction and design professionals play in the translation of design ideas into built form. This year's series is part of the "Building Matters" course, taught by U.Va. Architecture School lecturer Lester Yuen, a senior designer at Gensler, a global architecture, design, planning and consulting firm.
The Clark-Howe Colloquium Series lectures are free and open to the public and will be held from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. in Campbell Hall, room 153.
