U.Va. Bookstore Welcomes Tiki Barber for Book Signing on Oct. 26

Oct. 22, 2007 — The U.Va. Bookstore will host a book signing with University of Virginia graduate and former professional football star Tiki Barber on Oct. 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a signing of his new book, "Tiki: My Life in the Game and Beyond." The event is free and open to the public. The U.Va. Bookstore is located at 400 Emmet Street South, atop the Central Grounds Parking Garage.

"It's always great to come back to U.Va.," said Barber. "I'm looking forward to my book signing at the U.Va. Bookstore because I know it will give me an opportunity to reconnect with old friends, fans and Virginia alumni."

Barber will sign only copies of his new book purchased at the event (sorry, no memorabilia) and copies of his children’s books only with the purchase of a copy of "Tiki." All titles will be available at the event.

Barber graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce in 1997 after becoming the Cavalier football team's all-time leading rusher (though his record was later surpassed by former teammate Thomas Jones). He went on to a stellar career with the National Football League's New York Giants. After retiring from football following the 2006 season, he is now employed by NBC as a football analyst and "Today" show correspondent.

Barber and his identical twin brother, Ronde — a cornerback for the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers — are also major benefactors of the University. In October 2006, they made a $1 million gift that launched "The Barber Challenge," an effort to encourage young alumni to give to the University.
