The University of Virginia’s Child Development Laboratories are inviting families to their Fourth Annual Open House, to be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1023 Millmont St., behind the Barracks Road Shopping Center.

Fun and informative for the whole family, activities include an ambulance tour and safety information from Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad, information about U.Va. child development research, as well as face painting, live music, games, free portraits, refreshments and giveaways. Albemarle County Police also will offer fingerprinting of children for parents who desire this.

U.Va.’s Child Development Labs, part of the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences, are internationally renowned for their research on children’s cognitive development. Researchers are specifically interested in how children learn from others, learn language, reason and develop an understanding of the world around them.
