U.Va. Press' Digital American Founding Era Collection Named a Best Reference

May 20, 2010 — Library Journal selected the American Founding Era collection from the University of Virginia Press' Rotunda digital editions as one of its 2009 Best Reference selections in the history category.

The journal called the collection "a powerhouse of primary-source documents – the kind of resource only digitization can make widely available."

More than 40 publications were noted in 13 subject areas; 10 of the reference publications are digital projects.

The American Founding Era collection offers scholars and students at all levels an invaluable source of primary and secondary materials by some of the American Revolution's most enduring figures, including George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James and Dolley Madison and Alexander Hamilton.

An early version of the digital edition of the James Madison Papers is now online. U.Va. Press will demonstrate it June 25-29 at the American Library Association meeting in Washington, D.C.
