May 22, 2009 — R. Lee Kennedy, associate professor of drama at the University of Virginia, was nominated for a Drama Desk award for outstanding lighting design for Irwin Shaw's "Bury the Dead," playing off-Broadway.

Actors and other theater professionals received certificates for being nominated. The 54th annual Drama Desk Awards were held last Sunday in New York City and webcast live by TheaterMania.com.
