March 22, 2010 — The University of Virginia won 11 awards, including a Grand Award, in the District III Awards competition sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

The Office of Engagement won the grand award for its program, "UVaExpress."

The program, administered by the University's Office of Engagement, is a full-service hospitality program that brings international students and their families from Dulles Airport to U.Va.'s Grounds free of charge right before the academic year begins. It is staffed by U.Va. employees and volunteers.

The Office of Engagement facilitates and supports alumni and parent relations on behalf of the University through a range of programs and services worldwide.

Development and Public Affairs' Strategic Communications Editorial & Design Group collected six Awards of Excellence.

The University of Virginia Magazine also fared well, picking up three Awards of Excellence, related to the design of its Web pages.

U.Va. Health System Development Communications won a Special Merit Award.

CASE District III represents the southeast region of higher education professionals dedicated to fundraising, marketing and communications of institutions' missions and enhancing the effectiveness of alumni relations.
