Virginia Glee Club to Present Finals Concert May 16

May 7, 2009 — The Virginia Glee Club will honor the class of 2009 on May 16 in its annual Finals Concert.

The evening will showcase many timeless classics and a few modern melodies. The Glee Club will present "Manly Men," a robust, masculine tribute to male choral music, as well as "Find the Cost of Freedom," a haunting salute to America's fallen heroes. Audiences will be delighted to hear "Let Thy Good Spirit," Mozart's "Ave Verum Corpus," and the soothing, rolling sounds of "Shenandoah."

Audiences will also enjoy the return of Franz Biebl’s perennial favorite, "Ave Maria," and an assortment of University songs to properly send off the graduates.

The performance will be held May 16 at 9:30 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall, which is located on south end of the Lawn of the central grounds of the University. Degree candidates are admitted free. General admission tickets are $15 and student tickets are $5, and can be purchased at Mincer's, at the Newcomb Hall Ticket Office (434-924-7314), or at the door.
