The state of Virginia has the highest number of schools in the Top 25 Southern list once more this year. University of Virginia (No. 6 in region and No. 40 overall) is the highest-ranked public university in the South in a list dominated by private schools. In fact, UVA is one of just three public institutions in the top 10 regional schools.
Forbes crunched the numbers to find which public colleges and universities graduate students with the highest mid-career salaries. UVA is No. 24 on the list, with mid-career earnings of $97,100.
Last year’s No. 1 school, Stanford University, moves to No. 2 in the rankings, followed by Yale University, Princeton University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
