The statute became the basis for successful resettlement of more than 3 million refugees from distant countries to the United States – a significant humanitarian achievement, and one from which our economy, culture and even cuisine have benefited.
UVA Health is changing its visitation policies due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Beginning Friday, visitation is limited to one designated visitor in the inpatient units, the Emergency Department, the Outpatient Surgery Center and outpatient clinics. Visitation to the UVA Transitional Care Hospital is suspended.

"While telecommuting initially sounds like an unplanned vacation, in reality, isolation, lack of schedule and not enough to do are a foolproof recipe for depression," Allen said.
Shaman says that stealth transmissions — as this phenomenon is called — may continue to pose a “major challenge” to the containment of the coronavirus worldwide. To be clear, much more research is needed to determine what percentage of COVID-19 patients in the U.S. are not exhibiting symptoms, and how that may impact the way in which the virus spreads. But as experts work to figure that out, what do you need to know about stealth cases? William Petri, chief of the UVA School of Medicine’s Division of Infectious Diseases and International Health, shares some important facts.
Why the disease varies so much among age groups, especially compared to influenza, remains a mystery. “The reason why children are less affected than adults is potentially a very interesting question,” said Steven Zeichner, a professor of pediatrics at the UVA School of Medicine who studies infectious disease. “I don’t think anybody knows the answer.”

The nomination of Aditya Bamzai of Virginia, to be reappointed a member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board for a term expiring Jan. 29, 2026, was sent to the U.S. Senate. In August 2018, Trump had nominated Bamzai, a professor at University of Virginia’s School of Law, to be a member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board for a six-year term expiring in January 2020.

UVA has announced that the default grading system for all undergraduate classes this semester will be credit/no credit. Students will have the option to get a letter grade if they want for any undergraduate classes that have not yet completed their work.

The University of Virginia announced Tuesday night that its 2020 graduation was canceled as currently planned. Jim Ryan, UVA’s president, made an additional statement Wednesday to clarify that a graduation ceremony could still occur at a later date. For a few of Virginia's athletes, this May’s graduation ceremony would’ve been the second time walking across a graduation stage.
