Recent research published by the American Enterprise Institute, authored by UVA’s W. Bradford Wilcox and Robert Lerman of American University, points to married men earning at least $15,900 more annually than single men. For black men, this “marriage premium” is $12,500.
“A lot of the Trump people are saying [Gillespie] is not really with us,” says Larry Sabato, director of UVA’s Center for Politics. “And I don’t know any Democrat who would vote for Gillespie simply because he’s putting a little distance between himself and Trump.
