In its priciest project ever, the University of Virginia Medical Center has rolled out a new electronic medical record system. The project is expected to cost $122 million over seven years, said Dr. Marshall Ruffin, the center’s chief technology officer. Officials are installing the new software system-wide, replacing older electronic systems and hybrid systems that still used some paper charts and which were often a hodge-podge by department, he said.

There's a new report out that points the finger at the cause of the housing crisis. University of Virginia urban and environmental planning professor, William Lucy, says baby boomers are looking to downsize to smaller homes contributing to a surplus in real estate that younger generations aren't investing in.
If you are like most people, you find intercourse between a brother and sister immoral, and repulsive. In fact, work by University of Virginia professor Jonathan Haidt found that as many as 65% of people think that a brother and sister should be stopped or punished merely for kissing each other on the mouth in a secret hiding place. In his research Haidt has compiled an impressive body of evidence indicating that our moral judgments are very influenced by our visceral, intuitive, emotional reactions and not as influenced by rational, conscious thought as most people think.

The University of Virginia now has a contract with NuRide. The Internet company provides an online service which rewards residents for not using their vehicles. Those that use the program will be rewarded with points when they carpool, ride a bus, walk, or telecommute. The site also helps to set up carpools. Points received can then be redeemed for discounts at national and local vendors. The University of Virginia is the first University to sponsor the program. The program has about 50,000 members in 10 markets.
Education experts spelled out clearly on Thursday that teaching students at a young age, even before they start school, is crucial to their success. Robert C.
