The University of Virginia is tackling familiar issues as the presidency of John Casteen draws to a close. The UVA Board of Visitors has renewed its debate over future tuition increases. Virginia began a new two-year budget period earlier this month, and board members are bracing for additional reductions in their state allocations.
Virginia universities aren't having to scramble to comply with a new federal rule to deter online piracy by students -- most came to terms with that issue years ago. … The University of Virginia, the College of William and Mary, the University of Mary Washington and Longwood University are among schools already in compliance. Virginia and Virginia Tech both saw athletics revenue increase Thursday morning, as the ACC announced a 12-year, $1.85 billion deal with ESPN that dramatically raises TV payments. Unlike the current arrangement, where different sports are offered separately to different networks, ESPN now has the rights to every ACC contest across all sports.
