A former U.S. ambassador has been named to a one-year position at the University of Virginia's Miller Center for public policy. The university announced Wednesday that Eric S. Edelman has been appointed the next James R. Schlesinger distinguished professor at the center. In that role, Edelman will participate in Miller Center conferences, interact with faculty and students, contribute to Miller Center publications and appear on the center's public affairs television interview program, American Forum.
"That's something legislators have rarely ever taken up, at least not in the open," said UVA employment law expert JH Verkerke. "Usually it just gets kicked to the courts."
