Shale wells could be the perfect place to permanently dispose of carbon dioxide, according to researchers at the University of Virginia. Andres Clarens, a civil and environmental engineering professor, said the pores created by hydraulic fracturing could, after the well is depleted, have enough volume to hold carbon emissions from power plants and industrial factories.
Larry Sabato, head of the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia, said he expects to see at least a couple of thousand write-in votes this year, possibly more. But he thinks these voters will merely put a minor dent in the results on Election Day.
