Karenne Wood came to her Native American heritage late. She grew up in the Washington, D.C. suburbs and only discovered as an adult that she had been born into the Central Virginia Monacan tribe. Once she discovered this, however, Wood made up for lost time. She became a member of the Monacan tribal council, is in charge of the Virginia Indian Program at the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, is putting together a digital history of Virginia's tribes and is completing her doctoral work at the University of Virginia.

U.Va. professors Daniel Cox and Ronald Reeve have designed and built a virtual reality system to evaluate and augment the driving skills of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Based on preliminary results from a previous Autism Research Program seed grant, Cox and Reeve are further developing this system.
