Liberty University’s agreement with Centra is non-exclusive, enabling Centra to continue educational partnerships with other institutions such as Lynchburg College, University of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University. Centra provides nursing education as well as residencies for UVa and VCU doctors.
One AmeriCorps program housed at the University of Virginia, the Virginia College Advising Corps, places recent college graduates in high schools throughout Virginia to help students apply to post-secondary education. At University of Virginia Heart Failure and Transplant Center, specially trained doctors and nurses work with patients and their families to determine which heart failure treatment is best for each individual patient.
Some people may be more prone to the winter blues or SAD. A recent study from the University of Virginia suggested a genetic mutation in the eye may make sufferers less sensitive to light. The study, which involved 220 people with SAD and 130 with no mental illness, found the SAD patients had lower levels of a receptor that helps regulate alertness and the 24-hour body clock.The risk with winter blues is that it can develop into SAD.
