Two large batteries exploded in the University of Virginia’s Fontaine Research Park Thursday, leaking battery acid into the basement of the building. The batteries were part of a backup power system for the Snyder Research Building at 480 Ray C. Hunt Drive. No one was hurt in the explosion.
