The Charlottesville Ice Park has been closed for more than a week, but a deal for its sale will likely happen this Friday. The University of Virginia did not contribute money to help keep the ice park open, so its hockey team is without a place to practice nearby.
The UVA Law School’s most recent giving campaign was highly successful. The school announced it has set a new donors record with 8,430 graduates contributing—52.7 percent of alumni, the fifth consecutive year with contributions from more than 50 percent of alums. According to a news release, annual gifts were in excess of $10.3 million.

The University of Virginia is tackling familiar issues as the presidency of John Casteen draws to a close. The UVA Board of Visitors has renewed its debate over future tuition increases. Virginia began a new two-year budget period earlier this month, and board members are bracing for additional reductions in their state allocations.
Virginia universities aren't having to scramble to comply with a new federal rule to deter online piracy by students -- most came to terms with that issue years ago. … The University of Virginia, the College of William and Mary, the University of Mary Washington and Longwood University are among schools already in compliance.
