Nandua High School graduate Jamar Walker helped the University of Virginia Mock Trial team win the 23rd annual collegiate Mock Trial National Championship Tournament, held April 13-15 in St. Petersburg, Fla., in a win over Harvard. Virginia's victory makes it only the fourth school in the history of Collegiate Mock Trial to win back-to-back national titles.
A donation to the University of Virginia will benefit its Curry School of Education. Daniel Meyers, a Boston businessman who chairs the Curry Foundation Board, has donated $1,000,000 in honor of dean David Breneman, who will retire in June. The area between Ruffner and Bavaro Halls will now be called Breneman Courtyard. Breneman has served as dean for 12 years. His successor will be Bob Pianta.
