The University of Virginia Art Museum will hold its last Final Friday Reception of the semester on Friday. The reception runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. with "Expose Yourself: Student Body Art Show" at 6 p.m. The event features body art created with nontraditional materials by UVa students in response to works in the museum and elsewhere.
The Charlottesville Transit Service is getting ready to launch a fare-free service for University of Virginia students. A fare-free ridership program will begin Monday and last through June 2008. CTS Director Bill Watterson says this will include UVA staff and faculty, as well as students. Anyone who takes advantage of this offer would need to show a CTS driver a valid UVA photo ID card. This program does not extend to the Football Shuttle Service that operates between September and November.
The University of Virginia announced today that best-selling novelist John Grisham will be the commencement speaker at the University's 178th Final Exercises on May 20, 2007. Grisham will speak on the historic Lawn at 10 a.m., following the traditional academic procession.

In it, a new look at an old procedure for better detecting breast cancer. Most of us think about mammograms when it comes to detecting breast cancer. But for some, magnetic resonance imaging--more commonly known as MRI--is helping doctors diagnose the disease. Doctors say it's changing the fate of high-risk patients.

Kids in our area now know how to get to Sesame Street after a visit from one of the residents. As part of Virginia's Festival of the Book, Maria from the popular kids' show made a stop at Carver Recreation Center.
The Festival of the Book has brought authors from all over, but none have made the splash on MySpace like author Robert Fanney. Fanney has built the single largest author fan base on MySpace with a fan following of thousands.
