Routine commutes for thousands of UVA employees and students were front-burner issues during a Thursday meeting of city, county and university officials…County Supervisor Dennis Rooker has questions after examining UVA's roughly $700,000,000 list of approved projects. He wants to know how many additional people the University will hire. UVA Architect David Neuman has a plan for super-sized dorms, which could house 260 students in each building, to replace the current 1960's models. Neuman acknowledges UVA is considering five-story dorms in the Observatory Hill area.

When a more powerful theater company wants to shutter your theater, end your performances and quite possibly harm you, it's time to be sure what you stand for. There's one small problem: The characters in Carlyle Brown's play "The African Company Presents Richard III" aren't entirely sure. "This is a part of black history that I think a lot of people don't know about," said Theresa Davis, who is making her directing debut as a University of Virginia Drama faculty member. Her play opens tonight in the Department of Drama's Culbreth Theatre.
