A new study from the University of Virginia found that children who are raised in dense, walkable neighborhoods are more likely to find economic success later in life and out-earn their parents. The report partly attributes this to the sense of community that children in these areas develop. 
Hollyfield Solar Farm in King William County sits on 160 acres in Manquin, and with 65,000 solar panels, it generates 17 megawatts per hour. The farm produces 12% of the total electricity used at the University of Virginia and the farm saves 75.9 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions every day, the equivalent of burning 83,053 pounds of coal, according to UVA’s Darden School of Business.
The courts may never make a determination one way or the other, especially if they decide the amendment doesn’t extend legal protections beyond those provided under current interpretations of the 14th Amendment, said Saikrishna Prakash, a UVA law professor who has studied and written about the issue.

UVA will receive about $33 million from the state over the next 20 years to support more than 3,000 degrees in computer science. Gov. Ralph Northam announced Thursday that the state plans to create 31,000 new computer science graduates over the next 20 years through partnerships with 11 universities.

"Virginia doesn't trade party control in the legislation very often,” said Larry Sabato, director of UVA’s Center for Politics. “In fact, it's only happened once in my lifetime, which was in the 1990s when the Republicans took over the House and Senate, so this would only be the second turnover, party turnover of the General Assembly in the 20th and this piece of the 21st century, so that’s pretty remarkable if it happens."
