Discovered by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, the star-forming dwarf galaxy J0811+4730 has 9 percent less oxygen than any other so far discovered. “We found that a considerable fraction of the stellar mass of J0811+4730 was formed only a few million years ago, making this one of the best counterparts we’ve found of primordial galaxies,” said UVA professor Trinh Thuan.
Would a Roy Moore victory mean trouble for other Senate incumbents? Maybe, but these circumstances may not be easily replicated: Roy Moore is much better known than a lot of Senate primary challengers, and the runoff law helps him a lot. “There are those who think that the potential success of Moore’s candidacy could be a jumping off point for insurgent challengers to sitting GOP senators in 2018,” said Geoffrey Skelley, associated editor of Sabato’s Crystal Ball, which is produced at the UVA Center for Politics.

“We should really be concerned about the influence these companies have on the ways we structure out thoughts and our lives,” says Siva Vaidhyanathan, UVA professor of media studies. “Our everyday interaction with Google and Facebook seems to imply no danger or annoyance. A group of UVA researchers wanted to explore the reasons why exercise, specifically aerobic exercise, has so many benefits. They looked into how exercise affects our muscles on a cellular level, discovering the reasons behind why exercise is so vital to human life.
A new study published in the journal Nature Communications describes how exercise helps the body to keep the cells in the muscles healthy and strong. "Whether muscle is healthy or not really determines whether the entire body is healthy or not," says lead researcher Prof. Zhen Yan, of the UVA School of Medicine.
