With 3,803 students, the Class of 2024 hails from 79 countries and 48 U.S. states and territories outside of Virginia. More than 41,000 students applied for admission, setting a new record.
President Jim Ryan told new students that they all belong at UVA, no matter their background. He urged them to build bridges – “to make an effort to reach out and get to know someone who comes from a different background or looks different than you do or who took a different road to get here.”
