January 14, 2010 – Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine has named Billy K. Cannaday Jr. to the nine-member state Board of Education, effective today, to complete the term of Kelvin Moore, who resigned from the board late last year.
Cannaday has been dean of the University of Virginia's School of Continuing and Professional Studies since October 2008, following two years as Virginia's superintendent of public instruction, a position that reports to the Board of Education.
His appointment was among several announced Thursday by Kaine, who leaves office Saturday.
