March 30, 2010 — Free tickets will be available April 1 on a first-come, first-served basis for the presentation of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medals and the talk by one of the honorees, Edward O. Wilson of Harvard University.
The events are part of Founder's Day at U.Va. on April 13, which commemorates the birth of Thomas Jefferson. U.Va. President John T. Casteen III and Thomas Jefferson Foundation President Leslie Greene Bowman will present the 2010 medals at 11 a.m. in Old Cabell Hall Auditorium. Wilson will receive the medal in architecture. Also being honored are Janet Napolitano, secretary of homeland security, who is the medal recipient in law; and Joseph Neubauer, chairman and CEO of ARAMARK, who will receive the medal for citizen leadership.
Wilson is scheduled to speak in the Old Cabell Hall Auditorium at 3 p.m.
Tickets are required for both events. They will be available only from the U.Va. Arts Box Office, located in the lobby of Culbreth Theatre, between noon and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The free tickets must be picked up in person with a limit of two tickets per person per event.

Neubauer will speak at Monticello's celebration of Jefferson's 267th birthday at 9 a.m. on the West Lawn of Monticello. Napolitano will speak at 3:30 p.m. in Caplin Auditorium at the U.Va. School of Law. No tickets are required for either event.
