Blizzards® to Hit Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley in August for a Good Cause

Aug. 8, 2007 -- With daily high temperatures topping 90 degrees, people in Central Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley will be seeking relief. Instead of reaching for a soda, they can visit the local Dairy Queen and cool off for a cause. On Thursday, Aug. 9 Dairy Queen® will host the annual “Miracle Treat Day” to benefit the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital and other Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals.

During Miracle Treat Day, participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill® locations in Charlottesville, Crozet, Elkton, Harrisonburg, Bridgewater, Stuarts Draft, Verona, and Palmyra will donate proceeds from every Blizzard® sold to the University of Virginia Children's Hospital, the local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. CMN is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals.  All funds raised stay in the local community.

Dairy Queen has been a long-time supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals through canister collections, the sale of Miracle balloons and the upcoming Miracle Treat Day. The UVa Children’s Hospital will receive a new outpatient facility to further support the needs of its young patients. Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day is another way Charlottesville and area residents can help with these efforts.
