There’s more to a successful investor’s life than making money.
Four investors who have consistently beaten the market over more than 25 years will discuss their philosophy and strategies for investing, giving and personal development April 26 at the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce’s 2013 Spring Symposium.
The symposium, “Investing in Markets, Society and Ourselves: Views from Investment Masters,” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in Old Cabell Hall. It is co-sponsored by McIntire and the U.Va. Contemplative Sciences Center.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Click here to register by April 24.
Panel discussions will explore investing, giving and personal development and highlight their importance in a well-rounded business and personal life.
The first panel will feature three titans of the investment world: 1985 McIntire alumnus John Griffin, founder and president of Blue Ridge Capital; 1976 College of Arts & Sciences alumnus Paul Tudor Jones, founder and co-chairman of Tudor Investment Corporation; and Julian Robertson, chairman and chief executive officer of Tiger Management. They will discuss lessons from their careers regarding investing, the opportunities they see today and future opportunities. They will also hear and comment on two student investment ideas.
For the second discussion, those three panelists will be joined by McIntire marketing professor David Mick, who teaches a popular “Wisdom and Well-Being” course, and by 1977 McIntire alumnus Jeff Walker, retired managing partner of JPMorgan Partners and retired vice chairman of JPMorgan Chase & Co. The five panelists will discuss their involvement with and support for important global initiatives in areas such as poverty, global health and education. They also will discuss their own unique strategies for personal development and how these strategies help them to live a more complete and fulfilled life.
