University of Virginia students give their school high marks for its value, according to the Princeton Review’s “The Best 380 Colleges: 2016 Edition,” which goes on sale Tuesday.
Student surveys included in the organization’s flagship college guide rank U.Va. 10th in the nation on the “Great Financial Aid” list, based upon responses to the question, “If you receive financial aid, how satisfied are you with your financial aid package?”
U.Va. is one of only two public universities in the nation to both offer admission on a “need blind” basis, meaning a student’s financial situation is considered only after an offer of admission is made, and to meet 100 percent of the demonstrated financial need of in-state and out-of-state students.
The University also rates No. 11 among “Colleges That Pay You Back – Without Financial Aid” and No. 16 among “Top 50 – Colleges That Pay You Back” – lists that had been previously released in January.
There’s more. The student surveys landed U.Va. on two other lists: “Best College Newspaper” (No. 7) and “Best Alumni Network” (No. 8). And besides being included in the top 360 schools – listed without overall rankings – the University also appears in the editors’ lists of “Colleges That Pay You Back,” “Green Colleges,” “Best Southeastern Schools” and “Public Schools.”
The publication is the latest affirmation of the University’s value. The Princeton Review this year listed U.Va. as the nation’s top public school for affordability, academics and career prospects. Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine has rated the University as the nation’s No. 2 best value among public universities for three straight years.
Last week, Forbes magazine rated U.Va. as the nation’s No. 2 state institution, and U.S. News & World Report also rates U.Va. as the No. 2 public university in the nation.
