Dylan Dietrich threw his hat to the sky, dropped his racket and extended his arms. A sea of University of Virginia men’s tennis players soon mobbed him in celebration.
This is what winning looks like.
The UVA men’s tennis team on Sunday capped an epic weekend with a 4-3 win over the University of Texas to secure the NCAA championship at the Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Georgia.
Dietrich, the nation’s No. 1-ranked player, was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after headlining the Wahoos’ comeback victories against Texas and against Wake Forest University on Saturday in a thrilling semifinal round.

[Loud cheering and clapping]
The UVA men’s tennis program now has seven NCAA championships, the fourth-most in the sport.
Virginia Athletics now has 37 NCAA championships, including the most recent women’s swimming title in March.
And the Cavaliers might not yet be done in 2025-26.
