The Charlottesvillle-Albemarle SPCA is a private adoptive homes for animals. We also serve the very vital role as the public animal shelter for Albemarle county and the city of Charlottesville.

We provide spay-neuter surgeries to the community. We provide compassionate care clinics, which are low-cost clinics, to those in need. Those animals that may otherwise be surrendered to the shelter, we're helping keep those animals in their homes.

Your donations through the Commonwealth of Virginia Campaign go to support literally saving the lives of animals. We do use the verbiage that we're no kill, length of stay does not matter to us, so we are truly a life-saving organization and your dollars go to making that possible.

Get to know the animals at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA, a no-kill animal shelter that works to find cats and dogs permanent homes in the community. The donations of University of Virginia employees to this organization through the Commonwealth of Virginia campaign “literally go to saving the lives of these animals,” according to the shelter’s CEO, Angie Gunter.
