March 24, 2009 — The University's Teaching Resource Center is sponsoring a workshop April 3 on "What the Best College Teachers Do."
The workshop runs from 2-5 p.m. in Gilmer Hall, room 130.
In this interactive workshop, author Ken Bain of Montclair State University will share the results of his research and give U.Va. participants an opportunity to explore how great teachers captivate, motivate and help their students reach high levels of accomplishment.
Bain is vice provost for instruction, professor of history and director of the Research Academy for University Learning at Montclair. He is also the author of "What the Best College Teachers Do," which won the 2004 Virginia and Warren Stone Prize for an outstanding book on education and society.
The workshop is part of the Tomorrow's Professor Today Program at the Teaching Resource Center.
The event is free and open to the University community. Register online or check in at 1:50 p.m. on April 3.
