Benefits Enrollment Goes Online; A Few Changes Coming to 2011 Health Plan

October 21, 2010 — University Human Resources has launched a new online system, Benefits@UVa, just in time for employees to sign up for or change benefits during the open enrollment period, which runs from Nov. 1 to 19.

Changes in U.Va.'s Health Plan for 2011 include a new third-party administrator (Aetna) and a 3 percent premium increase for the high-premium plan. Premiums in the low-premium plan will remain the same. The changes become effective Jan. 1.

Beginning Nov. 1, all benefit changes for 2011 must be done through the Benefits@UVa tab on the HR website. Employees are then directed to NetBadge to sign in and then are able to see their current benefit information. Paper forms will not be accepted.

Until Nov. 1, employees can sign in and make changes only to benefits not tied to the annual open enrollment period, such as changes to their tax-deferred savings plans.

New plan information will be e-mailed to employees in late October, right before open enrollment begins.

A Benefits Fair will be held in Newcomb Hall on Nov. 11 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The fair features several presentations on the changes to the health plan.
