The Bigger Picture: Ivy Stacks, a Bibliophile’s Treasure Trove

Ivy Stacks, a high-density storage facility near the University of Virginia on Old Ivy Road, is a vast repository of knowledge, holding more than 1 million books and materials.

This fall, about 1.7 million additional items from Alderman Library are being moved to either Ivy Stacks or Clemons Library as Alderman undergoes much-needed renovations.

Although Clemons and other branches house the most-circulated volumes, all of the books and materials will remain accessible via the library’s online catalogue, Virgo, and can be quickly delivered by request.
