May 9, 2008 — C-SPAN will broadcast the 2008 Gala of the University of Virginia's Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership on Saturday, May 10, at 8 p.m. The program will be rebroadcast the same evening at 11:15 p.m. This is the first Sorensen event to be broadcast on C-SPAN.
             
The gala was held April 25 at the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City in Arlington, Va.. More than 300 guests honored retiring U.S. Sen. John Warner for his service to Virginia and the nation. Warner serves as the honorary chairman of the Sorensen Institute's State Advisory Board.
      
This event featured the largest gathering of former and current Virginia governors in the Commonwealth's history.

C-SPAN's program includes remarks by State Advisory Board Chairman Barbara Fried, former Virginia Gov. Linwood Holton, former Virginia Gov. and U.S. Sen. Charles Robb, former Virginia Gov. Gerald Baliles, current Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine, and Warner.
